Electric Macan is coming, but not yet

(Patria) - Along with software problems, Porsche has detected another problem in the commercialization of the electric Macan.

(PPE) which Porsche is developing with Audi. However, software problems have caused delays in the development of the new, all-electric Macan, so the premiere has been postponed from the end of this year to 2024. Judging by the latest information, that's not so bad, reports Index.hr

Indeed, Porsche has decided to keep the gasoline Macan on the market for a few more years. According to Automotive News Europe, Porsche will extend the production of the gasoline Macan. It could remain on the American market until 2026, or even longer.

Porsche will wait to discontinue the model, and the final date will depend on the market performance of the new generation available exclusively with electric drive, Porsche announced at a distributor meeting held in the Canary Islands.

And customer feedback will not depend solely on Porsche and the new model. Namely, the lack of charging infrastructure is emerging as the main obstacle to the commercialization of the Macan. The Macan is, after all, Porsche's second best-selling model with over 86,000 units sold last year, and its impact on the charging network will be far greater than, for example, the Taycan.

And speaking of the Taycan, at the same meeting, Porsche announced a facelift for the model for next year, and the only secret is Mission X, i.e., whether this concept will result in a hypersport successor to the 918 Spyder.

In addition to the Macan, Porsche is working on two more electric SUVs. Also, the 718 must be discontinued during 2025 to make way for an electric sports car. The only model that will remain at least partially immune to electrification is the 911.
