
More than 30 people died in an explosion at a coal mine in the Donetsk region of rebel-held eastern Ukraine, local authorities said on Wednesday.
- According to preliminary information, more than 30 people have died. Rescue teams have still not reached the site of the explosion; they are currently trying to remove toxic gases, after which they will descend into the mine - said Vladimir Cimbalenko, head of the local mine safety agency.
Trapped miners remain in the mine, their number is unknown, with media reporting that between 70 and 200 are inside.
