Explosion in Pakistan kills more than 40 lawyers and cameramen

At least 42 people were killed in a powerful explosion that rocked the grounds of a state hospital in southwestern Pakistan, in the city of Quetta, police said.

The number of people wounded in this explosion is even higher. At the time of the explosion, nearly a hundred lawyers and journalists had gathered at the entrance of the emergency building. Earlier, police mistakenly reported that the bomb attack occurred at the main entrance of the hospital.

The explosion occurred shortly after the body of a Pakistani lawyer, killed yesterday, was brought to the state hospital, said police official Zahoor Ahmed Afridi. It is still not possible to say whether these two events are connected in any way.

Afridi said that the majority of the dead are lawyers, and Pakistani media report that there are also cameramen among the victims.
