Remains of a Bosniak woman killed in 1992 exhumed

ROGATICA, (Patria) - Competent authorities have completed the exhumation process in the Rogatica municipality, at the Toplik site. Complete remains were found, and the identity of the victim will be determined through a subsequent process.

According to available information, it is presumed that these are the remains of a victim of Bosniak nationality, a woman who died in 1992.

The discovered remains will be transferred to Goražde, where forensic medical processing will be carried out, including determining the cause of death and collecting bone samples for DNA analysis to establish the victim's identity.

The exhumation process in the field was led by an investigator from the Special Department for War Crimes of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH, and was attended by representatives of the Institute for Missing Persons of BiH, a forensic doctor, police officers from the Rogatica Police Station, and necessary workers using adequate machinery.

The Prosecutor's Office of BiH, together with the institutions involved in the process of searching for missing persons in BiH, continues its activities in the process of exhumations and searching for missing persons throughout BiH.
