Eco Action: Helicopters needed or the location with the most endemic species in BiH will burn

(Patria) - According to this morning's satellite images from the European Forest Fire Information System (EFFIS), the fire that broke out two days ago near the Komadinovo vrelo restaurant has dramatically spread.

As announced by Eco Action today, there is a possibility that the location with the most endemic species in Bosnia and Herzegovina will burn.

"If helicopters do not start extinguishing the fire this morning, Plasa, the location with the most endemic species in Bosnia and Herzegovina, will burn down," warned Eco Action.

According to information from the Operational Center of the Civil Protection (CZ) of Herzegovina-Neretva Canton (HNC), fires were still active on Friday morning in the areas of Jablanica, Stolac, and Čapljina.

In the village of Zaušlje near Čapljina, a house and two sheds burned down yesterday. The fire is still active in that location. Firefighting teams are still on the ground in Budisavina, and a couple of explosions were heard due to the fire, according to the report.

The fire, we remind you, appeared on Wednesday in inaccessible and steep terrain, and a request for assistance was sent to the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina yesterday.

"Firefighting has long been solely our responsibility. We have enough money, significant amounts are deducted from every salary for natural disasters, but we still lack the necessary firefighting aircraft and sufficient ground firefighters. Helicopters of the Armed Forces of BiH could also extinguish the fire, although it is not their primary task, however, due to the criminal stubbornness of a member of the Presidency, there is no chance that this will happen," state Eco Action.
