Egyptian arrives: Bosnia accepts one Guantanamo detainee

Bosnia and Herzegovina has accepted Tariq Mahmoud Ahmed al Sawah (58), who was transferred to our country from the Guantanamo prison. BiH joined the program for accepting detainees from Guantanamo, in which a number of countries participate, as part of cooperation with the United States, which is seeking to close this military prison, the Ministry of Security of BiH announced, as reported by the Patria news agency.

Sawah spent the last 13 years in this prison but was never prosecuted or convicted.

His stay in BiH is regulated in accordance with the BiH Law on Foreigners, where he accepted the obligation to respect the legal order of Bosnia and Herzegovina and will be under the supervision of the competent authorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the statement said.
