(Patria) - Egypt has refused to coordinate with Israel on the entry of aid into Gaza from the Rafah crossing due to Israel's "unacceptable escalation", satellite television Alqahera News, affiliated with the Egyptian state, reported on Saturday, citing a high-ranking official, Reuters reported.
The official said that Egypt holds Israel responsible for the worsening situation in the Gaza Strip. On May 7, Israeli forces seized the main border crossing in Rafah, closing a vital route for aid into the besieged enclave.
The United Nations and other international humanitarian agencies say that the closure of the two crossings in southern Gaza, Rafah and Kerem Shalom under Israeli control, has effectively cut off the enclave from external aid and that very few shops were available inside.
Egyptian Red Crescent sources said that deliveries have completely stopped.
