Ef. Fetić: Our French neighbors love us, everyone knows Islam has nothing to do with terrorism

After the murder of French journalists and police officers on Wednesday, the whole world is on its feet, and a large number of media outlets are unfairly calling for contempt towards Muslims worldwide.

Abduselam ef. Fetić, a Bosniak imam in Paris, says in an exclusive interview with the BH News Agency Patria that he constantly reads media reports announcing the burning of mosques in France and Europe, which makes him uneasy. However, he is encouraged by the statements of French politicians who have been calling for peace and tolerance since yesterday. He hopes it will remain that way.

The terrorist attack on the editorial office of the Parisian newspaper Charlie Hebdo, in which ten journalists and two police officers were killed on Wednesday, has disturbed citizens around the world. Although official Islamic leaders from around the world have distanced themselves from this attack, stating that it is an unacceptable barbarity that has nothing to do with Islam and Muslims worldwide, analysts assess that Muslims worldwide could still feel the consequences because of it.

- This morning I took my child to school, and the teachers spoke nicely with me. I think no sensible person should equate yesterday's terrorism with Islam – said ef. Fetić.

- I only noticed in the eyes of some Arabs that they were a little more disturbed. They are afraid of how everything will unfold further. But, we all hope for the best – he added.

Ef. Fetić says that France is tolerant towards Bosniaks, and that their religious community has never had problems so far. Their cooperation with local authorities is very good. He hopes it will remain that way. He is particularly pleased that French politicians are cautious when making statements, in which they call for peace and tolerance towards all citizens of France, writes Patria.
