Damir Džumhur has reached the semi-finals of the ATP tournament in Moscow after defeating Andreas Seppi from Italy 2:1 (4:6; 6:2; 6:4) in sets after a comeback, reports the Patria agency.
The first set started with a break by Džumhur, our tennis player defended his serve in the next game and took a 2:0 lead. Seppi broke back in the fourth game and quickly equalized, then took a 3:2 lead.
Then, both tennis players held their serves until the tenth game when the Italian broke again for 6:4 in games and a 1:0 lead in sets.
The second set started identically to the previous one, with a break by our tennis player who played excellently in that part of the match, as he also took Seppi's serve in the fifth game for an express 4:1 lead in games. He defended his serves until the end of the set and equalized at 1:1 in sets.
In the deciding set, both players played confidently on their serves in the opening games. The first break opportunities were seen in the sixth game, Seppi had them, but the Italian missed both.
The same did not happen to Džumhur, who used a break point in the ninth game to take a 5:4 lead and then successfully defended his serve in the next game for 6:4 and a 2:1 victory in sets.
In the semi-finals, Džumhur will play against the winner of the match between Daniil Medvedev and Mirza Bašić.
If Mirza Bašić wins, it will be the first Bosnian semi-final at an ATP tournament in the history of our country.
