Džaferović receives EU ambassadors: Council of Ministers to impose restrictive measures on Russia

(Patria) - Chairman of the BiH Presidency Šefik Džaferović received ambassadors of the European Union and G7 countries.

The aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine was discussed, as well as the positions and activities undertaken by the institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina in relation to this, in cooperation with the international community. The ambassadors expressed gratitude to Bosnia and Herzegovina for joining the United Nations General Assembly resolution condemning the Russian aggression against Ukraine, the draft resolution in the United Nations Security Council, and the positions and measures of the European Union on this issue.

The ambassadors requested Bosnia and Herzegovina to continue with the same policy by which it has sided with the right side of history, and for the competent institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina to implement restrictive measures against the institutions and other entities of the Russian Federation provided for by the acts of the European Union to which Bosnia and Herzegovina has acceded.

The Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina once again condemned the Russian aggression against Ukraine, confirmed support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, and expressed commitment to the positions of the European Union and G7 countries regarding the situation in Ukraine.

The Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Šefik Džaferović supported the demands of the European Union and G7 member states to the Russian Federation to immediately withdraw its troops from Ukraine, and to cease the use of military force against Ukraine and the reckless violation of humanitarian law through attacks on civilians and civilian objects, including hospitals. The Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina joined the demands to the Russian Federation to open humanitarian corridors to the besieged cities and areas in Ukraine, and to enable the delivery of humanitarian aid to the endangered population.

The Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina shares the concerns and condemnations of the international community regarding the threats of possible use of nuclear weapons. Džaferović also shares the expectation of the international community that the Russian Federation will engage in good faith in a new round of peace negotiations with Ukraine.

Regarding the request of the ambassadors of the European Union and the G7 countries on the implementation of restrictive measures, the Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Džaferović stated that he is asking the BiH Council of Ministers to fulfill its obligations and implement the restrictive measures provided for by the acts of the European Union to which Bosnia and Herzegovina has officially acceded. The Chairman of the BiH Presidency will also send this request to the BiH Council of Ministers in writing.
