Džaferović, Komšić and Dodik in Brussels with European officials

BRUSSELS, (Patria) - Members of the BiH Presidency Šefik Džaferović, Željko Komšić and Milorad Dodik are on a working visit to Brussels where they will hold a series of meetings with European officials.

They will have their first meeting with the President of the European Parliament, David Maria Sassoli, at 12:00 PM in the European Parliament building. A working lunch with the Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations, Oliver Varhelyi, will be held at the European Commission building at 1:00 PM. The members of the BiH Presidency will also meet with the Vice-President of the European Commission and High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Joseph Borrell, at 3:15 PM.

Among the topics concerning Bosnia and Herzegovina's European path, there will certainly be discussions about the migrant, economic, and health crises caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

Before leaving for Brussels, both Komšić and Džaferović were optimistic, and it was emphasized that BiH is expected to gain candidate status this year or next. However, how realistic is it to expect such a scenario, knowing all that BiH has not fulfilled from the 14 priorities of the European Commission, including the rule of law, the new Law on the HJPC, public procurement, administrative reform, and the implementation of the judgments of the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg.

The next meeting could be held as early as October 9, for which the members of the BiH Presidency have been invited.
