SARAJEVO, (Patria) - No position stated or agreement reached by the BiH Presidency Chairman Milorad Dodik during his visit to the Russian Federation was coordinated within the BiH Presidency, and therefore does not represent the official stance of our country, according to a statement by BiH Presidency member Šefik Džaferović.
"Any agreement potentially reached in Russia on the 'gasification of Republika Srpska' cannot have any legal consequences for Bosnia and Herzegovina or anyone in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and can only represent a violation of the Dayton Agreement, i.e., the BiH Constitution. No one in Bosnia and Herzegovina has, nor should have, any objection to connecting our country to international gas flows. However, the issue of gas and connection to international flows falls under the exclusive jurisdiction of the state of BiH. Therefore, a law must be passed at the state level and an independent state operator, similar to Elektroprenos for electricity, must be formed.
I call on Dodik and all other political actors in BiH to do this as soon as possible, thereby enabling a stable gas supply for BiH," the statement said.
