Two killed and nine wounded in shooting at Brown University in the US

(Patria) - Police are searching for a suspect after a shooting at Brown University in Providence in which two students were killed and nine were wounded.

Streets around the campus in the state capital of Rhode Island were blocked and filled with emergency vehicles for hours after the shooting, and police officers increased security across the city as the search continued.

"The person responsible is still at large," Mayor Brett Smiley told reporters at a press conference.

Police released footage of the suspected attacker. The short clip shows the suspect walking down a street and turning a corner, dressed in dark clothing. Authorities stated that the suspect appears to be around 30 years old. Given that he remains at large, people in the area are advised to stay indoors.

Nine patients were admitted to Rhode Island Hospital with gunshot-related injuries.

Six patients are in critical but stable condition, while one is in critical condition, the hospital said in a statement to CNN. Two patients are in stable condition. The hospital is currently on lockdown but continues to accept patients in the emergency department.
