One person was injured in an axe and shooting attack in the center of Cologne early this morning, German newspaper Express reported, adding that two suspects are on the run, agencies report, according to Patria.
The newspaper states that several people told the police around four in the morning that three or four people seemed to be having a "problem" with someone. Witnesses confirm they saw men attacking each other with an axe, Express reports on its website.
The man who sustained the injury got into his car and tried to drive away, but other men shot at him. It is assumed that they only hit his car. The motive for the attack is currently unknown, the newspaper states. The police have not announced how many suspects are on the run, dpa agency reports.
