MONTENEGRO, (Patria) - Prime Minister of Montenegro Duško Marković stated that the past two years of Montenegro's NATO membership have confirmed that by joining the North Atlantic Alliance, they have strengthened the country's security and safety, contributed to the stability of the environment, and created prerequisites for development and a better life for citizens. The Prime Minister also says they can be proud that Montenegro is among the world's strongest democracies, reports RTCG, agency Patria reports.
"For the first time, we have had the opportunity to protect and promote the values to which we naturally belong, together with 28 allied countries in the Alliance. We have strengthened the country's security and safety, contributed to the stability of our environment, and essentially ensured the prerequisites for development and a better life for citizens. Without stability, there is no progress – and every resident of the Balkans knows and feels this best," Marković stated in a press release.
Citizens of Montenegro, as the Prime Minister conveys, can be proud that Montenegro stands equally shoulder to shoulder with the world's strongest democracies, through its role as an ally in global challenges that affect every corner of the planet.
"This is part of Montenegro's best traditions, that we are always where our partners need us. But today, unlike many other times in our history, we have allies behind us who are ready to help us in any challenge, and at any moment" – said the Prime Minister of Montenegro Duško Marković in his address to the citizens on the occasion of the second anniversary of our country's NATO membership.
The Prime Minister said that NATO membership is much more than a military alliance because it contributes to the growth of foreign investments and an increase in the number of tourists.
"What you could have seen in the past two years is the growth of direct foreign investments, not only from NATO member states. We can fundamentally correlate NATO membership with investment indicators and tourism records. I believe that even those who did not support Montenegro's path to the North Atlantic community see today that it is inseparable from our future membership in the European Union, to which Montenegro is getting closer every day with overall social progress and transformation," said Prime Minister Duško Marković on the occasion of the second anniversary of Montenegro's NATO membership.
