Two years since the fire: Bihać hospital not renovated, where were the 1.3 million KM in donations spent?

The story of the renovation of the Bihać hospital, which was completely destroyed in a fire in the summer of 2013, has not yet reached its epilogue, writes the Patria News Agency.

On the website of the Cantonal Hospital Bihać, you can also find giro account numbers to which citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina can deposit donations to purchase much-needed windows.  

Doctor Samir Muminović, former director of the hospital, reiterated the question at the last session of the Una-Sana Canton Assembly, related to the funds donated to the Cantonal Hospital in Bihać.

He listed the donors and the amounts of donated funds in order:

Council of Ministers in 2013: 100,000 KM
Government of the Federation in 2013:  500,000 KM
Canton Government in 2013: 300,000 KM
Islamic Community from collections in mosques 203,000 KM
Centar Sarajevo Municipality: 50,000 KM
Meggle: 100,000 KM
Pliva: 50,000 KM
Karlovac Municipality: 20,000 KM

According to Muminović, who is certainly well-informed about the events, these are not the only donor funds, and the total sum of the listed donations amounts to 1,323,000 KM. He also stated that the estimated damage after the fire was 1,300,000 KM.

At the end of his address, Muminović posed the following questions:

1. Where were the funds donated for the remediation of fire damage spent?
2. If they were spent, were they spent adequately and in accordance with what they were collected for?
3. If they were not spent, do they still exist and why are they not used to remediate the fire damage?

The Council of Ministers of BiH, led by Chairman Denis Zvizdić, did not provide a single KM for the renovation of the Bihać hospital, which was explained as not being within the competence of the Council of Ministers, but rather the cantonal level of government.
