(Patria) - On this day, twenty years ago, the Prime Minister of Serbia, Zoran Đinđić, was murdered. If he were alive, Serbia and the region would look different today. Zoran would have achieved his political and life goal: Serbia would already be a member of the EU, said Milo Đukanović, President of Montenegro, on social networks.
"With his murder, the European future of both Serbia and the Western Balkans was killed for a long time. He was my dear friend and comrade-in-arms. As in previous decades, today I am thinking of his family. And of Serbia, which is mourning. Glory to Zoran Đinđić", stated Đukanović.
We remind you that on this day in 2003, Prime Minister of Serbia and leader of the Democratic Party, Zoran Đinđić, was murdered in an assassination attempt in Belgrade, in front of the Government headquarters.
During his term, the process of democratization of society and economic and social reforms in Serbia began.
The Democratic Party, led by Zoran Lutovac, is organizing the traditional "Walk for Zoran" which begins with a gathering at Vuk's Monument at 10:30 AM. From there, citizens will proceed to the New Cemetery to lay a wreath at Zoran Đinđić's grave in the Alley of Distinguished Citizens.
Also, DS sympathizers, as well as Đinđić's government minister Gordana Matković and then Ambassador to the United States Ivan Vujačić, will lay a wreath in the courtyard of the Government of Serbia.
It is expected that representatives of the Serbian state leadership will also lay a wreath, as has been the case in previous years.
