Twenty Years of Dubioza: 'We look forward to every concert as if it were the first and play as if it were the last'

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - This year, the internationally most successful BiH band Dubioza Kolektiv is celebrating two decades of work.

From Dubioza's first performance in 2003 and the first album released in 2004 to the current "Agrikultura", they have recorded 10 albums, 1 EP, and 1 double live LP.

Performing almost everywhere, they have held over a thousand concerts in 42 countries, and the number of impromptu street performances is unknown.

After a pandemic break during which they produced 17 episodes of the Quarantine Show for their audience, Dubioza Kolektiv's post-pandemic tour "Back on the Road" began in March last year, and by the end of December, they played almost 100 concerts in 23 countries.

- We played in all European countries except Iceland, Moldova, Belarus, and Latvia. We would like to take this opportunity to invite concert promoters in these countries to invite us so that we can play a concert there as part of our jubilee twentieth anniversary, purely for the statistics.

Joking aside, it's enough to think about over a thousand soundchecks and four worn-out vans, try multiplying the number of concerts by the number of kilometers traveled, and all that by the number of days we spent on the road. That's how we became who we are - doing what we love and what we believe in. Our life is music, and our families live the musician's life with us - says Vedran Mujagić.

Globally, Dubioza Kolektiv is the best Bosnian-Herzegovinian musical export product of all time, with a huge number of international concerts, a band that in 20 years of existence has won over audiences of different ages in every part of the planet.

Dubioza has come a long way from club concerts to the main stages of the biggest festivals and tours on all continents. A few years ago, they broke all previous attendance records at EXIT's main stage, and they also performed in front of half a million people at the Polish Woodstock (today's Pol'and'Rock).

Glastonbury (UK), Sziget (HU), Roskilde (DK), Lowlands (NL), Pohoda (SK), Womad (CL), Lollapalooza (DE), SXSW (USA), Boom Town (UK), Electric Castle (RO), Vina Rock (ES) are just some of the big festival stages where Dubioza Kolektiv has played in recent years.

- This jubilee, Dubioza will celebrate within its large family, i.e., the audience for whom we play. I'm not a big fan of celebrating jubilees, but we are celebrating this one in the hope that we will receive that box of chocolates that has been circulating at birthdays for years, and no one wants to open it because it's always convenient to pass it on as a gift.
