Two concerts to open 20th Jazz Fest Sarajevo

To mark the opening of the 20th International Music Festival Jazz Fest Sarajevo 2016, two concerts will be held at the Bosnian Cultural Centre, writes the Patria News Agency.

The festival will be opened on November 2nd by Norwegian pianist and composer Bugge Wesseltoft, who is celebrating 20 years of his New Conception of Jazz project with a new ensemble of the same name, consisting of four young artists: Marthe Lea, Oddrun Lilja Jonsdottir, Sanskriti Shrestha, and Øyun Kjenstad, playing saxophone, guitar, tabla, and drums.

These young, sophisticated, and energetic musicians are boldly participating in Bugge Wesseltoft's new and exciting quest for an ever-new conception of jazz.

Following the young ensemble led by the experienced Wesseltoft, a concert will also be held by the ensemble of top American artist Rob Mazurek, who has released 55 albums and composed over 300 original compositions in his 30-year career. This year at Jazz Fest Sarajevo, he will present repertoire from an album recorded with the trio Sao Paulo Underground, which is set to be released at the end of the month. The exceptional musicians gathered in this ensemble will bring the sound of Brazil to Sarajevo, an electro-acoustic combination of intriguing and exciting compositions, and brilliant collective and solo improvisations.

Both concerts will be held on November 2nd at the Bosnian Cultural Centre, and one ticket is valid for both performances. Apart from the solo concerts at Vijećnica, all festival tickets are valid for two or more concerts, with the aim of giving Jazz Fest audiences the opportunity to attend as many performances as possible, featuring a total of 29 ensembles in the main festival program this year.

You can purchase or reserve your tickets for all programs of the 20th Jazz Fest, which will be held from November 2nd to 6th, at pre-sale prices on the official festival website www.jazzfest.ba.
