Two planes collide at London Heathrow Airport

(Patria) - Two planes collided at London Heathrow Airport, damaging their wings.

The incident involved a British Airways plane with 121 passengers and a Virgin Atlantic plane.

Heathrow announced that there were no injuries in this incident, nor any flight delays.

Virgin Atlantic stated that its empty Boeing 787-9 was being towed from a stand at Terminal 3 when the collision occurred, around 12 PM local time.

The airline added that the plane had just landed and was being transported to another part of the airport.

British Airways stated that they have arranged an alternative aircraft for their passengers.

Virgin Atlantic also stated that they are investigating the incident and that maintenance checks are being carried out on their aircraft, which has been taken out of service.

"The towing was provided by a ground handling company contracted by Virgin Atlantic," the statement said.

A Heathrow spokesperson said they are working with emergency services and their airline partners in response to the incident involving two aircraft.

"There are no passenger injuries reported and we do not expect any impact on airport operations," he said.

Emergency services attended the scene as a precaution.
