Dumančić retires, Border Police without a leader!

Director of the BiH Border Police Vinko Dumančić confirmed for the BiH news agency Patria (NAP) that he will retire upon the expiration of his current term on March 9. However, this fact will only complicate the situation with the management positions of police officials whose terms expire on March 9, and besides Dumančić, this also includes Himzo Selimović, director of the Directorate for Police Coordination of BiH. Selimović has resigned, Dumančić must retire, and the terms of their deputies are also expiring, as well as one deputy director of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA).

As we have learned, the BiH Council of Ministers planned to extend the mandate of all officials for another two months at today's session, because the procedure for electing new leaders has not yet been completed. And, due to the blockade of the appointment of a new Independent Board, it is not even certain when it will be completed.

For the BiH news agency Patria, the director of the BiH Border Service Vinko Dumančić confirmed that he still does not know who will succeed him in the director's position.

- I served two terms. I did not apply for any position, nor can I do so on a legal basis. God willing, I will retire soon – Dumančić told NAP.

However, it has been known for a long time that Dumančić has already met the conditions for retirement based on his years of service, and now that his two terms have expired, there is no basis for extending his mandate even until the election of new leaders, for a maximum of two months. The problem is that Dumančić's deputy, Enes Gačanin, was previously suspended and is under disciplinary proceedings, and according to well-informed sources, everything was done so that he would not be appointed acting director of the Border Police, NAP learns.
