Long-term plans: Vice President Biden announced he will run for president

US Vice President Joe Biden revealed his intention to run for president in the next US presidential elections in 2020, writes the British Independent, Patria reports.

Answering questions from a group of reporters, the 74-year-old Biden said he wants to run, but that he has “not made any firm decisions”.

Joe Biden has already won elections twice, but as a member of President Barack Obama’s team.

Asked if he would run again, he said: “Yes, absolutely. I will run in 2020. For president. And you know what, damn it, why not.”

When reporters asked him if he was joking, Biden replied: “I will not promise that I will not run. I will not make any firm decisions. I learned long ago that fate has a strange way of intervening.”

Joe Biden previously ran in the Democratic primaries for presidential candidate in 1998 and 2008, but withdrew from the race in the early rounds.

Last year, he did not even consider participating in the race against Democratic candidates such as Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders. Instead of running, he led the campaign for Hillary Clinton.

In 2020, when the next US elections will be held, Joe Biden will be 77 years old, meaning he will be 3 years older than the new US President Donald Trump.

Former US President Ronald Reagan still holds the record for the oldest US president – when he left office in 1989, he was 77 years old.

Biden represented Delaware as a senator from 1973 until his election as Obama’s vice president. He is the first vice president of Catholic faith.
