Dubai to be the first in the world to get flying taxi

(Patria) - The first electric flying taxi in the world, similar to a helicopter, will start flying in Dubai by 2026.

The United Arab Emirates signed an agreement on Sunday to introduce this city-wide taxi service.

The Emirates News Agency WAM announced on platform X that the electric aircraft "Joby Aviation S4" can carry four passengers at a maximum speed of 320 kilometers per hour to a destination 160 kilometers away.

The departure stations for these aircraft, which take off and land vertically - like helicopters, and fly like airplanes, will be at Dubai International Airport, in the city center, and near two upscale neighborhoods - Dubai Marina and Palm Jumeirah.

A trip from the airport to the Palm Jumeirah neighborhood currently takes 45 minutes by car, but will only take 10 minutes by electric aircraft.
