(Patria) - Russian air defence shot down numerous drones targeting Moscow early on Tuesday, but one drone struck the same tower that was hit earlier this week, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said, agencies reported.
"Several drones attempting to fly into Moscow were shot down by anti-aircraft fire," Sobyanin wrote on Telegram.
"One flew into the same tower in the Moscow City complex that was previously hit. The facade was damaged on the 21st floor. Glass was destroyed over 150 square metres."
Sobyanin said there were no injuries.
The news of the drone attacks coincided with reports that Moscow's Vnukovo International Airport was briefly closed early on Tuesday.
"Vnukovo is temporarily closed for arrivals and departures, planes are being diverted to other airports," an emergency service said, state news agency TASS reported, which later said the airport had resumed normal operations.
