Photographer Dražen Dizdarević will open an exhibition of documentary photographs from his travels in Iran in October 2015 tonight at the Java Contemporary Art Gallery in Sarajevo, writes the Bosnian-Herzegovinian news agency Patria. The exhibition is titled “Hear Iran“.
Dizdarević's photographs were taken in Tehran, Isfahan, Qom, and Kashan, and are the result of the author's impressions gained from encounters with people, with a great ancient civilization, tradition, mentality, as well as historical monuments in Iran. They also reflect an artistic "surprise" that now clashes with frequent prejudices accumulated over years under the influence of world events and one-sided reflections in perceiving the reality of this country, which until recently was deliberately closed off.
The photographs also offer a different perspective on contemporary Iran.
Dražen Dizdarević (30) was born in Cairo. He completed his studies in Digital Film Making at the SAE Institute in Amman and Belgrade and graduated from Middlesex University in London. As a cameraman, he participated in the Arte Channel project about Nobel laureate Dario Fo. Dizdarević has published photographs from the Middle East in magazines in Sarajevo and Zagreb.
The exhibition of photographs "Hear Iran" is Dizdarević's first solo exhibition, writes Patria.
