Dr. Cerić: The verdict is proof that the pursuit of justice and truth pays off!

The verdict of the District Court in The Hague shows that persistence pays off and that victims and witnesses of genocide should never give up their right to compensation for what they have suffered, stated for the BH news agency Patria (NAP) dr. Mustafa Cerić.

To our question to comment on today's decision, the independent candidate for the BiH Presidency stated that this is an incomplete, but important and encouraging step.

- The pursuit of truth and justice pays off. One should not give up. This is the minimum satisfaction for the victims, if one can speak of any satisfaction at all, considering the pain the victims carry. We congratulate the people of Srebrenica for fighting in this way, despite obstructions both domestically and internationally, not only for their rights but also for the rights of all who have experienced genocide – says dr. Cerić.

Although this verdict, as he says, is not complete and in line with expectations, it shows that Europe is aware of its mistake and that there is hope that there are still those in Europe who care about human rights. 

- I also commend the court in the Netherlands for having the strength to deliver such a verdict. It is fortunate that there is a right to appeal so that the request and the rights of the victims can be fully respected – emphasizes dr. Cerić for NAP.
