Dr. Cerić: No faith allows or justifies killing

Dr. Mustafa Cerić, President of the World Bosniak Congress, strongly condemned today's terrorist attack in Paris, reports the BiH news agency Patria.

- I am stunned by the tragic events in Paris. It is almost impossible to imagine that terrorists would confront journalists in such a manner in the heart of Europe - said Dr. Cerić.

- There must be a remedy for this madness. Violence must be stopped, and peace and trust must be established among people and nations worldwide. The madness must stop. No faith allows or justifies killing, the shedding of innocent people's blood. With the families of the murdered journalists and citizens of Paris, as well as the people of France, I share the pain and deep sympathy for their loss. My thoughts are especially with media workers, journalists, who are exposed to the greatest pressures in their attempt to convey information to the world, who are persecuted, judged, and killed - emphasized Dr. Cerić.

He said he hopes, "that European authorities will ensure security and peace for all their citizens, and I appeal to all European citizens to turn to and open up to each other more, because the solution lies in dialogue and the joint fight against all those who commit evil by invoking higher ideals or God."

- I call on all Muslims in Europe to remain calm and to protect the name of Islam and Muslims in every way from those for whom nothing is sacred, as the innocence of human life is not sacred to them. Also, I call on European politicians and media not to demonize any religion because of a group of terrorists who abuse religion - stressed Dr. Cerić.

- We all need peace and security, and therefore, whoever kills one innocent person is as if he has killed all of humanity, and whoever saves one life is as if he has saved all of humanity - said Dr. Cerić.
