(Patria) - After agricultural land, an appeal regarding forests was also submitted to the Constitutional Court of BiH. The appeal was sent by delegates of the Council of Peoples of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska.

The status of forests and forest land is regulated by the Law on Forests of Republika Srpska, which states that forests and forest land on the territory of Republika Srpska are state property, and that the relevant Ministry manages or disposes of them.

Forest land used to belong to agricultural conglomerates, similar to agricultural land which was the subject of the last decision of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina. 

The Ministry of Forestry previously stated that they are aware that new appeals are possible, but that they will be ready to face them.

We remind you that the Constitutional Court of BiH explained its earlier decision, by which the Law on Agricultural Land of Republika Srpska was declared unconstitutional, with the claims that natural resources are state property.

For representatives from Republika Srpska, these claims do not stand, because it is nowhere indicated in the Constitution of Bosnia and Herzegovina that the state has the right to property. Bosniak deputies in the National Assembly also announce an analysis of all laws that deal with the issue of property in Republika Srpska.
