Đonlagić: Dodik's end will come when citizens realize they are paying the price for his madness

(Patria) - Dženan Đonlagić, head of the DF Caucus in the BiH Parliament, commenting for Federal Radio on the decision of the BiH Presidency member Milorad Dodik to postpone the adoption of laws in the National Assembly of the Republika Srpska, which would return competencies in the areas of defense and taxation from the state to this entity, stated that it is evident that international sanctions have yielded short-term results, but long-term uncertainty is at play.

“This does not mean that he has ideologically changed his course in political terms, nor that he has changed his political agenda and strategic goals. I believe that in the long run, he is not giving up on dismantling state institutions and implementing the SANU Memorandum to show the dysfunctionality of BiH and its institutions, and strengthening entity institutions to, in the final goal, create a legal framework for the secession of a part of BiH. However, it is clear that the political pressure we have witnessed in the past few days and the announcement by some EU member states that they will follow Germany, such as the Netherlands and Belgium, have had certain effects, and of course, the recent decision of the High Representative Christian Schmidt regarding state property, all of this is a combination and range of decisions that have at least short-term postponed the implementation of these two most important sets of laws he had previously announced concerning indirect taxes and the defense system,” said Đonlagić.

He believes that he will never give up on that agenda, because it is evident that there is a direct connection with Moscow, there is a debt to Putin and Moscow, and certain promises made earlier, and it is clear that he remains a pro-Russian player in the Western Balkans.

“In that sense, the pressure on Serbia and Aleksandar Vučić is also increasing after the elections,” claims Đonlagić.

“I believe that the EU will wait until the end of summer or early autumn for the new government in Serbia to be formed, and then it will definitely give a very short deadline to the authorities in Serbia to definitively decide whether they will follow the EU's foreign policy and impose sanctions on Russia regarding the military aggression against Ukraine, or whether they will remain on Russia's side. I believe that after the establishment of the new government in Serbia, this concept and model of neutrality will no longer be sustainable, but we will see in the next six months, and of course, it will be a difficult decision for Aleksandar Vučić, but if he wants EU membership, he will have to abandon the position of neutrality,” he adds.

He believes that, however, none of this will affect the results of SNSD and Dodik in the upcoming elections.

“Unfortunately, the so-called alternative in RS, meaning these so-called opposition parties, have largely followed Milorad Dodik's policy and have been a reaction to his actions. There has been no change in policy there.”

Đonlagić states that he does not think Milorad Dodik's end is near.

“His end will come when the citizens living in RS remove him, and when they realize that they will be the ones paying the economic price for his political adventurism and madness in the last ten years, which culminated after the Russian aggression against Ukraine,” believes Đonlagić.
