Donor funds still haven't arrived in BiH, who is responsible for allocating 805 million euros

Winter has already arrived in BiH and in the areas that were devastated by catastrophic floods last May, leaving many households literally on the street after water or landslides swept away everything they had built over the years, writes the Patria news agency.

The conference, held on July 16, brought together 60 countries and 23 international organizations in Brussels, which together raised a total of 1.8 billion euros for BiH and Serbia. Aid for BiH amounts to 809 million euros, and the European Union, among other things, is providing a donation of 85 million euros, but not a single mark of this money has yet arrived in BiH.

As Nebojša Regoje, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, told Patria, this ministry of BiH is not responsible for the implementation of donor funds.

- Implementation is carried out by donors in accordance with their own commitments or projects whose realization is agreed upon by local authorities with donors - said Regoje.

Jasmin Jaganjac, director of the Fund for Flood-Affected Areas in the Federation of BiH, told Patria that they have not seen a single mark of those funds, and that only 10 percent of what was promised has arrived, a large part of unrenovated houses would be finished, and houses destroyed in landslides would also be built.

We do not know how these funds will be implemented, but everything we have done so far are donations collected in BiH from companies and good people, as well as the BiH diaspora. That money has not reached us. I only know that it was promised that donors would honor their decisions - says Jaganjac.

Also, as Jaganjac says, a meeting should be held at the end of this month where EU representatives will discuss this topic with BiH leaders.

- I hope that everything agreed upon will be respected, and we continue working. Tomorrow we start signing contracts for the renovation and construction of about 100 houses in the Tuzla Canton area - added Jaganjac.
