Donald Trump files a series of lawsuits against media for defamation

(Patria) - US President Donald Trump filed a lawsuit on Friday against Dow Jones, News Corp, Rupert Murdoch, and two Wall Street Journal reporters.

The claims were filed based on federal defamation law, court records show. The case was filed in federal court in Miami, Reuters reported.

The lawsuit comes after the Wall Street Journal reported on a birthday card for Jeffrey Epstein's 50th birthday that Trump allegedly sent in 2003, which included a sexually suggestive drawing and a reference to secrets they shared.

Trump's aides were also expected to ask the court to unseal grand jury testimony about Epstein, as the president battled concerns about how his administration handled the case of the deceased convicted sex offender.

Trump vehemently denied the Journal's report. He warned Rupert Murdoch, founder of News Corp, the paper's parent company, that he planned to sue him.
