Donald Trump on Asian tour, arrived in South Korea

SEOUL, (Patria) - US President Donald Trump arrived in South Korea and visited a US military base, where he announced that he is expected to discuss trade issues with President Moon Jae-in in Seoul.

- There is great cooperation - he said, adding that trade should be discussed at the meeting with President Moon.

- I hope we will start working to create many jobs in the United States, which is why I came here - Trump said.

Moon briefly met with Trump before his tour of the US military base Camp Humphreys in Pyeongtaek, about 100 kilometers from the border with North Korea.

The White House announced that the goal of Trump's visit is to show the US's determination in a firm approach to the North Korean nuclear and missile threat, but many in the region fear that the continuation of Trump's warlike rhetoric could increase the danger of military conflict on the Korean Peninsula.

In the second part of his Asian tour, during which he will visit five countries, Trump will try to increase pressure on Pyongyang after visiting Tokyo, where he stated that Japan would "shoot down from the sky" North Korean missiles if it bought American weapons, suggesting that the Japanese government would adopt a stance it had previously avoided.

The South Korean leg of Trump's trip is an attempt to show unity despite disagreements with Moon on how to confront North Korea, as well as to voice his objections to the trade agreement between the two countries.

Trump has unsettled some US allies with his threat to "totally destroy" North Korea if it threatens the US and by dismissing all diplomatic efforts with Pyongyang as meaningless.
