Violeta company donation delivered by EU-funded flight

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Head of the EU Delegation and EU Special Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ambassador Johann Sattler, and Chairman of the BiH Presidency Šefik Džaferović today welcomed a plane from Shanghai that delivered medical equipment donated by the Violeta company to the citizens of BiH. The transport costs were fully financed by the European Union.

The delivered equipment included 6 ventilators and 420,000 pieces of various medical supplies and protective equipment for medical workers in BiH.

EU Ambassador Sattler said he was very happy that the European Union could contribute to the fight against a common enemy - the coronavirus - and financed the flight costs that brought equipment for the entire BiH.

"Many thanks to the Violeta company for their help and excellent cooperation in this project, and to Chairman Džaferović for being here today. On my behalf and on behalf of the European Union, I want to say: we were and will be with you, with Bosnia and Herzegovina. This country is our home, and BiH's home is in Europe."

The European Union financed the transport of equipment from China to ensure its delivery as soon as possible and thus help meet the urgent needs of health institutions throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina.

A cargo plane was used for the transport of equipment, and its space was maximally utilized. The same flight also delivered medical protective equipment donated by the City of Shanghai to the City of Sarajevo.

The European Union has so far allocated 7 million euros for urgent medical needs for Bosnia and Herzegovina in the fight against the coronavirus, and 73.5 million euros for mitigating the economic consequences.
