The Health Center in Gradačac refused this morning to transport dialysis patients to the Dialysis Department in Odžak. These dialysis patients plan to organize themselves and go for dialysis in Odžak, which is scheduled for 12:30 PM.
These patients have been fighting for a long time to remain treated at the Dialysis Center (DC) Odžak, where they have been undergoing dialysis for several years. The Association of Dialysis Patients claims that the director of the Orašje hospital, Perica Jelečević (HDZ BiH), who "rules" the DC in Odžak, wants to transfer these severely ill, 100% disabled patients to the DC Gračanica at all costs, justifying it by unprofitability and significant economic and financial losses, which we believe are unfounded. The management of the Posavina Canton Hospital made a decision to prohibit further dialysis procedures for this group of patients following a report from the Inspection, which believes they can only be treated in the canton where they are health insured, i.e., in Tuzla Canton. The Federal Association of Dialysis Patients says this is just an excuse.
These patients from Gradačac travel about thirty minutes to Odžak, while the journey to the hospital in Gračanica would be an hour longer.
