Documentary 'Rape - Weapon of War' to be Screened on March 12 in Denmark

In Denmark, on March 12, the documentary film „Rape - Weapon of War“ will be shown, featuring testimonies of women raped during the aggression against Bosnia and Herzegovina. One of the two directors of this film, Annette Mari Olsen, stated that rape occurred on all sides, but that Bosniak women were the most sexually abused. After the screening of the documentary in Denmark, its premiere in Bosnia and Herzegovina is expected at the end of March.

The film also shows how, twenty years after the violence, thousands of traumatized and displaced women still cannot return to their birthplaces, where war criminals freely walk or even now work for the police.

Among the many stories in this documentary, Bakira Hasečić, president of the Association „Woman-Victim of War“, also shared hers. She told NAP that she recorded her story for this film two years ago, but they have still not received an invitation for the premiere.

- Believe me, I have recorded so many of these testimonies that I can no longer remember for whom or how. Also, we have not yet received a CD to see how it turned out in the end. Because, unfortunately, they have cut us out several times to suit them, so in the end it is not as it should be – says Hasečić.

As Bakira revealed to us, the film also features Nataša Kandić, executive director of the Humanitarian Law Center from Belgrade, as well as the director of the Sarajevo Research and Documentation Center, Mirsad Tokača.

- Mirsad told me that he received the CD and watched the material, but we have not yet. They are probably waiting for the premiere to happen first – added Hasečić.
