State coalition agreement halts appointments of directors and deputies in police agencies

(Patria) – Appointments of police chiefs in three state police agencies have been pending for three months, and this issue has not yet been addressed at sessions of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, even though the mandates of six officials in the Border Police of BiH (director and deputy), the Directorate for Coordination of Police Bodies (director and two deputies), and SIPA (deputy director) have expired.

Until new appointments are made, all current officials remain in their positions. The Independent Board of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH completed its part of the work in July, and the ranking list was submitted to the Ministry of Security of BiH in early August.

Although one of the candidates for the top position in the Border Police of BiH was Robert Perić, he is nevertheless a candidate for police commissioner of the Ministry of Interior of Herzegovina-Neretva Canton. Next week, he should be officially appointed to that position.

On the ranking list for director of the Directorate for Coordination of Police Bodies of Bosnia and Herzegovina are Mirsad Đelilović and Ensad Korman, and for two deputy directors on the list are Goran Amidžić, Đuro Knežević, Dragan Kulić, Ranko Vuković, and Ivica Bošnjak.

On the list of successful candidates for director of the Border Police of BiH are Robert Perić and Mirko Kuprešaković, and for deputy director of the Border Police of BiH are Fahrudin Halač and Amra Aljić.

On the list of successful candidates for deputy director of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) are Zoran Galić and, as the second, Vladimir Popović.

Although there are no obstacles to appointing new chiefs, the post-election period and agreements on possible coalitions are slowing down this process, which should be completely politically independent.
