Award Ceremony and Photo Exhibition 'Give Us a Motive'

(Patria) - As part of the "All Faces of Accessibility" campaign, on Friday, March 6, the EU Info Centre in Sarajevo will host the award ceremony for the photo contest "Give Us a Motive - Detect the Barrier Through the Lens".

The event will bring together numerous associations and individuals who work with and assist persons with disabilities, with the aim of changing citizens' perception of persons with disabilities and how they are treated.

The "All Faces of Accessibility" campaign is being implemented within the project "Communities of Different, Yet Equal Citizens", funded by the European Union and implemented by the Organization of Amputees UDAS in partnership with the Helsinki Citizens' Assembly Banja Luka and the Association of Citizens "Something More" Sarajevo.

 The goal of the photo contest, as well as the campaign itself, was to detect various forms of barriers that we all face daily, because everything that is good for persons with disabilities is also good for other citizens. A large number of photos were submitted to the contest, and the final winners were determined by the sum of "likes" on social networks and points awarded by a professional jury. Aleksandra Stošić and Milijana Bojić submitted the best photos. Adna Memić's photo is in second place, while Džana Hodžić's photo is in third place. The awarded authors will receive prizes for the best photographs.

The attendees will be addressed by Gianluca Vannini, Head of the Operational Section for Social Development, Civil Society and Cross-border Cooperation at the EU Delegation to BiH, Željko Vološ, President of the Organization of Amputees UDAS, and Tanja Mandić Đokić, project consultant and activist within the disability movement.

 In addition to awarding prizes to the authors of the best photographs, an exhibition of other shortlisted photos will be presented at the EU Info Centre, uniquely depicting the barriers and obstacles faced by persons with disabilities.

Media statements are planned for 1:00 PM, after the award ceremony for the winners.
