(Patria) - SNSD President and BiH Presidency Chairman Milorad Dodik stated that Republika Srpska will not accept NATO membership in line with the National Assembly's Resolution on Military Neutrality.
He said that this is a pledge for him.
"There will be no NATO membership, and we will pursue this policy at the BiH level," Dodik said in his address after the ceremonial academy on the occasion of the General Assembly of United Srpska, held in Banja Luka.
Dodik noted that NATO bombed the people here, planned borders between Serbs on the Drina, but added that RS must not be left without friends on a global level.
We remind you that SNSD is seeking to abandon the Action Plan for NATO Membership (MAP) and turn towards the Individual Partnership Action Plan (IPAP). This is one of the options being discussed by political parties in BiH that are expected to form a government after the October elections, multiple sources confirmed to Patria.
The Action Plan for Membership (MAP), to which BiH previously committed by decision of the Presidency, is NATO's program of consultations, assistance, and practical support tailored to the individual needs of countries wishing to join the NATO alliance, while IPAP has completely different characteristics. The Individual Partnership Action Plan (IPAP) represents the most intensive form of bilateral cooperation between NATO and non-member countries that do not aspire to become members. Neighboring Serbia has signed an IPAP with NATO.
BiH also has a signed IPAP, but there is now talk of the possibility of repackaging it and adapting it to the way Serbia and NATO operate.
