Dodik, Komšić and Džaferović in Brussels today: BiH should get candidate status as soon as possible

BRUSSELS, (Patria) - Chairman of the Presidency of BiH Milorad Dodik and members of the Presidency of BiH Željko Komšić and Šefik Džaferović will meet with the Vice-President of the European Commission and High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini in Brussels. Members of the Presidency of BiH are making their first visit to Brussels since taking office.

BiH's European path will be the main topic of discussion. Members of the state Presidency, Šefik Džaferović and Željko Komšić, expressed hope that BiH will get candidate status for EU membership as soon as possible, as it would be "good, wise and smart, not only for BiH but also for the entire region and the EU".

Šefik Džaferović pointed out that the answers to the additional questions of the EC are "practically completed, and they are going to Brussels with that knowledge."
Željko Komšić also desires candidate status for BiH.

-    We are going with the message that it would be good, wise and smart not only for BiH but also for the EU countries for BiH to get candidate status. It is true that we are not as they might wish to see us in Brussels, but we fear that every lost day, month, and year, as European Parliament elections are approaching, a new European Commission needs to be formed, and that year we might lose could be very detrimental not only to BiH but to the entire region. And that decision they might make, although it may seem like a technical decision, is a deeply political decision – Komšić said.
