Dodik: A good day for BiH and the region, we return to Brussels on October 9

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - BiH Presidency member Milorad Dodik addressed the BiH public from Brussels after meetings with European officials, which he characterized as good.

"I think we could hear that there has been some progress regarding several issues in BiH that have been resolved, and that we should make further efforts so that next year we can work together with the European Commissioner and EU member states to achieve candidate status, which would be a new dynamic for BiH. I support that and I think it's good," says Dodik.

On the other hand, as he said, the economic aid package being coordinated and which will be adopted next Tuesday covers very important sectors and areas.

"This package should cover and build communications in terms of building highways, railways, gas pipelines, digital corridors and connect all the capitals of the Western Balkan countries. In this regard, 18 projects will be defined for the entire Balkans," said Dodik.

The EU is entering a new pact on migrants, Dodik continues, which implies that they should be stopped at all borders and "that all those who should not be there will be expelled".

"It is obvious that this is the only way we can send a clear message that we do not want to tolerate the entry of migrants in the way we have seen in the past. In this regard, I think that the coordinated EU policy will be applied with the same principles in the Western Balkans," Dodik's message was.

On the topic of "mini Schengen", Dodik says that it is the preparation of the region for what entails the implementation of Schengen values from the EU in that area.

"The EU has clearly stated that it will support the implementation of these values within the Western Balkan countries, and that at the summit on November 10, this 'mini Schengen' will be one of the main topics and that it is very important for BiH to be inside, and not to be left behind in this entire process," explained Dodik.

He reiterated that today's visit to Brussels was successful, and stated that the members of the Presidency will return to that city on October 9, where they will hold further talks.

"I think we have a dynamic. Of course, all our interlocutors know that BiH is complex in its structure and political system. The fact that elections are being held in Mostar is particularly welcomed, but they are also aware that there are problems that need to be resolved, which were initiated by the agreement on Mostar, related to the Election Law," Dodik said at the end of his address.
