How many more innocent children will suffer in the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina until the system starts punishing the perpetrators. More than 100 days have passed since the murder of the young man Dženan Memić, and the perpetrators and motives are still unknown. Everything is shrouded in mystery.

Countless questions are linked to this tragedy, and the parents, family, friends, and ultimately the citizens of Sarajevo are still without any answers.

What is so rotten in this country that families and citizens are taking to the streets and insisting that the perpetrator be found and punished, instead of those who are legally obligated and paid to do so?

Why are parents forced, in their grief, to seek the truth outside the prosecutor's office, in front of the police, the government? Why hasn't anyone come to their door and told them what happened to Dženan that fateful night?

For a parent who has lost a child, even one minute of waiting is too much, let alone 100 days of agony, lies, deceit, and manipulation.

Who is this person who can take someone's life with impunity and not be held accountable? Why are the police, the prosecutor's office, and the authorities silent?

Where is Police Commissioner Vahid Ćosić, the most responsible person for the security situation in Sarajevo Canton? We heard from Prime Minister Elmedin Konaković that he and the former Minister of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton, Ismir Jusko, actively got involved in this case from the beginning. And that's fine. From a human perspective.

But it is neither the prime minister's nor the minister's job to conduct investigations. It is known whose job it is. The job of the one who has been silent for 100 days and is hiding from the media. If Commissioner Ćosić knows something about the murder of the 22-year-old Dženan, and is silent, then there is someone above him. If the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office, headed by Dalida Burzić, has made no progress in the investigation, then everyone should step aside.

There is the Federal Ministry of Internal Affairs. There is SIPA. Someone must bring this and other investigations to an end, and punish the perpetrators. Enough with the talk about jurisdictions and supposedly respecting the law that restricts the police in performing their duties. Dženan's parents are not interested in that. They want the killer of their son to be found and punished.

How many more such cases will we have that will only prove to us again and again that there is no system, which the rulers of this city invoke so loudly?

Which link in the chain of responsibility has failed in this case? Will anyone be held accountable for an investigation that went in the wrong direction, and how could such a thing have happened in the first place?

The headquarters of all security agencies are located in this city, but even that is not enough to move this tragic case, which could have happened to any of us, from a standstill.

Have we reached a point where one person's life is worth more than another's? How many more unsolved murders in Sarajevo remain shrouded in mystery due to false testimonies, investigations, concealment of evidence, involvement of family members, high-ranking police officials...?

Dženan's parents will not give up, nor will all the other parents and citizens of Sarajevo who are seeking the finding and punishment of the killer and better security. It is high time for Commissioner Vahid Ćosić to come forward publicly and say whether there is any progress in this investigation at all. Or let him step down and let others bring the truth to light and take responsibility for our lives.
