Dino Mustafić awarded Best Director at Pan-Albanian Festival

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Bosnian director Dino Mustafić received the award for best director at the recently concluded "MOISIU – ON", a Pan-Albanian Festival organized by the National Theatre in Tirana.

The festival, which lasted from February 23 to March 15, featured 22 performances from Albania, Kosovo, and North Macedonia. Our director had as many as three performances competing with three different theatres. The play "Južnjak" by Teatar Migjeni Shkoder (Shkodër), based on the text by Rainer Werner Fassbinder, "Majka i dijete" (Mother and Child) by Jon Fosse, produced by MAM (Multimedia Art Movement) from Tirana, and Chekhov's "Višnjik" (The Cherry Orchard) by Teatri Korce.

The festival presented awards last night, chosen by the votes of all theatre productions in various categories. Dino Mustafić received the award for directing the theatrical classic "Višnjik" as recognition for the play that premiered in the summer of 2019. Following an excellent reception from audiences and critics, this is its first guest appearance at a festival that brings together recent performances staged in the Albanian-speaking region.

"It is an honor to receive an award for a play when it is given by colleagues. I have directed many plays with Albanian actors and authors. Perhaps some of the most important ones in my life, like the plays featured at this festival. No directorial award in theatre is possible without actors and collaborators who inspire and create a shared collective act. I enjoy directing plays in this part of the Balkans; I have a spiritual and cultural closeness and an atmosphere of friendship where I feel at home," Mustafić stated.

The Pan-Albanian Festival "MOISIU" – ON is the largest festival where all theatres producing plays in the Albanian language compete. This year, due to epidemiological measures, the festival was organized online.
