DF calls on the BiH Prosecutor's Office to investigate increasingly frequent media reports of abuses of the electoral process

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Democratic Front calls on the BiH Prosecutor's Office to immediately investigate increasingly frequent media reports of abuses of the electoral process, said DF President and candidate for the BiH Presidency member Željko Komšić.

- The media, as well as our activists on the ground, increasingly report that there are voter registrations from abroad for voting in the 2018 General Elections that are not legal and even constitute theft and abuse of citizens' identities. We demand that domestic entities involved in this possible fraud of enormous proportions be investigated, as well as the involvement of institutions and individuals from the Republic of Croatia in the alleged abuses during the registration of such voters. Also, we call on the BiH Prosecutor's Office to inspect the work of the BiH diplomatic-consular network and the possible participation of BiH consular and diplomatic personnel in such attempts at electoral fraud and theft - Komšić stated.

He said it is evident that the Central Election Commission will not do this, and believes that it is then up to the BiH Prosecutor's Office.

- The lack of reaction by BiH institutions in terms of protecting the constitutionality and legality of the electoral process will have far-reaching consequences for all future processes in BiH - added Komšić.

- Also, we take this opportunity to call on the BiH CEC to publicly comment on media reports that a Decision on the composition of the House of Peoples of the Parliament of the Federation of BiH is being prepared based on the 2013 census. We remind you, if this information is correct, that it represents a direct violation of constitutional provisions which state that in such cases the results of the 1991 census are applied, and this until the implementation of Annex VII of the Dayton Peace Agreement, i.e., until the moment when the competent BiH authorities or the OHR declare that this annex has been implemented. Any action by the BiH CEC, contrary to constitutional provisions, even if temporary, represents unconstitutional action by BiH institutions and could lead to the formation of the House of Peoples of the FBiH Parliament being considered unconstitutional and illegal. This would result in all laws and decisions adopted by such a house being considered unconstitutional - emphasized Željko Komšić.
