DF supports Mostar Declaration on a civic BiH

(Patria) - The Democratic Front strongly supports the recently adopted Mostar Declaration, drafted by Forum Neretva and the Association of Independent Intellectuals Krug 99, considering this important document a concrete expression of the non-governmental sector's activities in promoting values that should be part of the public policies of all political parties aiming for a modern and democratic state of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

"In this regard, the most significant parts of the Mostar Declaration, such as the positions on the right of every citizen to equally exercise active and passive voting rights, i.e., to elect and be elected to all public offices in the country, the obligation to implement all judgments of the European Court of Human Rights, especially those relating to the reform of the constitution and electoral legislation, and the rejection of the narrative of 'legitimate representation of peoples' and ethnic divisions, which directly negates the democratic representation of citizens and thus undermines democracy in Bosnia and Herzegovina in its entirety," stated the Democratic Front's press release.

They add: "For its part, by supporting the Mostar Declaration, the Democratic Front expresses its long-standing, continuous political stance focused on building a functional and democratically organized civic state, specifically a state based on the equal rights of all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as an important expression of the standards and values that will be necessary for accession to the European Union and NATO alliance".

"We want to clearly tell all alleged 'champions' of European integration, and the Mostar Declaration unequivocally affirms this, that all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina are the bearers of state sovereignty, and they alone have the right to decide on all matters concerning the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Ethnic policies and an ethnically organized political system in Bosnia and Herzegovina are an incident because they continuously produce ethnically based tensions, which requires change through the upcoming constitutional reform," the DF announced.
