Details of the horrific crime in Zavidovići: He killed a bakery worker with a hunting rifle, then himself

(Patria) - The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP) of the Zenica-Doboj Canton (ZDK) issued a statement today about the horrific crime that befell Zavidovići last night.

The MUP points out that the duty service of the Zavidovići Police Station received a report around 9:15 PM last night that a firearm had been used in a bakery in Zlatnih ljiljana street in Zavidovići.

Upon arrival at the scene, police officers found the lifeless bodies of a woman and a man in the bakery.

The crime scene was secured, and the duty prosecutor of the ZDK Prosecutor's Office was informed about everything. The prosecutor, along with officers from the Criminal Police Sector of the MUP ZDK Police Administration, arrived at the scene and supervised the investigation.

In parallel with the investigation, activities were undertaken to determine the identities of the deceased, and it was confirmed that they were individuals with initials D.A. (1990) and H.M. (1978) - both from Zavidovići.

Furthermore, through interviews with witnesses and other measures and actions taken within the scope of the investigation, it was preliminarily determined that the individual H.M., shortly before using the firearm, entered the bakery carrying a hunting rifle, after which he used the weapon to shoot D.A., who was behind the bakery counter, inflicting fatal injuries.

Immediately after, H.M. took his own life in the same establishment using the same weapon.

The bodies of the deceased were transported to the morgue of the Cantonal Hospital Zenica, by order of the duty prosecutor, where an autopsy will be performed in the coming period.

Police officers continue their activities to determine the motive for this criminal offense, as well as to shed light on and document all the circumstances under which it was committed, the MUP ZDK announced.
