Developments in the National Assembly of Republika Srpska are an attack on the sovereignty of Bosnia and Herzegovina

The Social Democratic Party of Bosnia and Herzegovina considers the events at the special session of the National Assembly of RS to be a process of systematically dismantling the constitutional order of Bosnia and Herzegovina and an open violation of the Dayton Peace Agreement.

"Today's actions in the National Assembly cannot be assessed in any other way than as a step towards the intended secession of this part of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina. We remind the actors of the international community that the General Framework Agreement for Peace is an act adopted with the aim of integrating the state. Article I states that the parties 'shall, in particular, fully respect the sovereign equality of the parties, settle disputes by peaceful means, and refrain from any action threatening or using force or otherwise against the territorial integrity or political independence of Bosnia and Herzegovina'.

Given that the latest activities are taking place under the direct patronage of the Republic of Serbia and represent a gross attack on the sovereignty, integrity, and political independence of Bosnia and Herzegovina, we consider any discussion and focus on other topics that do not address the problem of the open violation of the General Framework Agreement for Peace to be irrelevant and secondary. The SDP BiH expects an immediate reaction from international institutions to sanction those responsible and to curb the threat to the sovereignty of Bosnia and Herzegovina from the ruling political circles in the administrative unit of RS within Bosnia and Herzegovina," it was stated.

Any further delay in sanctioning those responsible for an adventure that threatens the peace and stability of the entire region is actually buying time for those who are ready to fight for the protection of their dubiously acquired empire over the backs of their disenfranchised fellow citizens, the SDP notes.

"Anyone who thinks that the interests of their people are more important to the rulers who swear by the interests of their people than their own wealth and property is bitterly mistaken. Therefore, we call on the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina not to fall for these provocations. Bosnia and Herzegovina will survive and be a country of equal and just citizens and peoples," adds the SDP of BiH.
