(Patria) - Hundreds of people gathered on Saturday evening in a protest in Jerusalem demanding a ceasefire in Gaza and a prisoner exchange deal.
Israeli police intervened against the demonstrators and removed domino-shaped statues symbolizing the collapse of the Israeli government.
Negotiations on a hostage exchange between Israel and Hamas, mediated by Qatar, Egypt, and the United States (US), have slowed down due to new conditions imposed by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu or his withdrawal from previous agreements.
On Saturday, the newspaper “Yedioth Ahronoth” quoted Israeli political sources saying that “90 percent of the details of the prisoner exchange deal between Israel and Hamas have been agreed upon”.
The Israeli army has continued its genocidal war in Gaza, in which more than 46,500 Palestinians, mostly women and children, have been killed since October 7, 2023, despite a UN Security Council resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire.
In November 2024, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Netanyahu and his former defense minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
Israel is also facing a genocide case at the International Court of Justice over the war in the enclave.
