Peaceful demonstrations in Brussels due to austerity measures at the expense of workers escalated and turned into a conflict with the police in which several dozen demonstrators and police officers were injured, reports the BiH news agency Patria.
There were about 100,000 people on the streets of Brussels, and several cars were set on fire. More than 30 people were arrested.
The Belgian government has agreed to negotiations with the unions, which have announced even larger demonstrations and blockades of Belgian cities, reports Patria.
