Today could be a great day. The verdict for Radovan Karadžić changes the history of our country and the world – stated for the Patria agency the delegate in the Council of Peoples of the Republika Srpska, Elvedin Hamzić.
The Hague Tribunal will today announce the verdict for the first president of the Republika Srpska, Radovan Karadžić. Karadžić is charged with the crime of genocide in Srebrenica, as well as the crime of genocide in seven municipalities in the territory of BiH... He is charged with sniper attacks on civilians in Sarajevo, taking members of UN peacekeeping forces hostage...
- I am certain that Karadžić will receive the maximum possible sentence, that is, a life sentence. However, it is very important that Karadžić, in addition to Srebrenica, be charged with genocide in other municipalities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, including Prijedor – said Hamzić.
He said that Bosniaks have waited a long time for this moment, more than 20 years had to pass before the opportunity for justice to be served arose.
Hamzić said that for Bosniaks who survived the ordeals, no one can return what was lost, but an adequate verdict can in any case be moral satisfaction, and a clear message that nothing can be gained through violent politics, except the label of a war criminal, writes Patria.
