FBiH Government Delegation to Visit Spreča Farm on Occasion of Start of Milk Exports to the European Union

Four dairies from BiH can freely export milk and dairy products to the European Union market as of Wednesday, 26 August 2015: Milkos, Meggle, Livno and Mlijekoprodukt, writes the Bosnian news agency Patria.

On this occasion, one of the most modern farms in Europe, the Spreča farm near Kalesija, owned by the Milkos dairy, will be visited tomorrow by FBiH Prime Minister Fadil Novalić and Minister of Agriculture, Water Management and Forestry Šemsudin Dedić.

The capacity of the Spreča farm is 2,500 head, of which 1,300 are dairy cows. Annual milk production is 12 million litres.

In addition to milk production, the farm also covers the sectors of reproduction, crop farming and mechanisation, a biogas plant, greenhouse production, and an orchard.

New planned investments are worth around 27 million euros. The Spreča farm also has plantations of pome and berry fruit. They currently have 15 hectares of fruit orchards. Of that, 12 hectares are apples and pears, and three hectares are planted with raspberries. The plan is to further expand the orchard, with a final goal of about 50 hectares of fruit. Along with all this, the Spreča farm will establish its own fruit plantations and grow high-quality seedlings to offer on the BiH market.

Soon, a project for the construction of cold storage and fruit dryers will be initiated, followed by investment in fruit processing.
